Occupational Safety Coordinator

Job Description
Works with the university community to put in place measures to help protect university employees from occupational hazards; responds to safety concerns reported from within the university community, investigates workplace injuries, reviews and analyzes trends in loss data, and conducts occupational safety assessments of university workplaces, equipment, and practices; leads the university’s efforts in drafting, maintaining, and promoting its occupational safety programs and policies, such as bloodborne pathogens, fall safety, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, and restricted access; monitors for new safety standards, or changes to existing standards, and ensures the university’s occupational safety programs reflect any changes; leads occupational safety trainings to various constituencies on campus; and supports and coordinates the efforts of various university safety committees. Bachelor’s degree plus at least three years of experience with promoting a strong safety culture, OSHA enforcement, and creating safety policies, programs, and procedures required. Master’s degree and experience in higher education or the public sector preferred. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications preferred. Student experience will be considered.
