Job Description
Status: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week Reports to: Culinary Programs Manager Qualifications: The ideal Culinary Programs Coordinator for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization’s mission to provide nutritious meals to youth and community partners in our 16 county service areas. This individual will be a vital component of the Food Bank in the fight against hunger. This team member must demonstrate outstanding ability to work with the Culinary Programs Manager to plan, cook, process produce, coordinate with our partner sites, and take on other duties as necessary. A passion for social justice and compassion for others are keys to being a staff member at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank strives to work as a unified team to close the meal gap in northeast Iowa, to this end the Culinary Programs Coordinator will need to be capable of working as a team, as well as being a self-starter. In addition, maintaining a positive outlook will play a large role in being a motivator and encourager for the community, clients, and volunteers alike. About the Job: The responsibilities of the Culinary Programs Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following: • Assist with general operations of the NEIFB Kids Café Program, Summer Feeding Program and kitchen including but not limited to: planning menus, cooking, preparing site orders, processing fruits and vegetables and coordinating with partner sites • Work with groups and individual volunteers to carry out tasks in the kitchen • Ensure the implementation of best food safety practices while working in the kitchen • Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, pantry, cooler and freezer • Other duties as assigned Ticket/Specifications: Required: • Experience cooking at home or in a commercial kitchen • Knowledge of basic healthy nutrition • Ability to become ServSafe Manager certified • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Ability to safely work in a kitchen using knives, stoves, and ovens • Must pass a criminal background check • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
