Program Specialists for the Winnebago Council, Scouting America, will serve as a key leader for after-school Scouting Programs at various locations in the Cedar Valley. As a Program Specialist, you will bring the Scouting Experience to youth on a weekly basis when consistent leadership is unavailable. You’ll engage youth in active and imaginative activities, helping them learn life skills including physical fitness, environmental conservation, active citizenship, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) awareness.
A passion for helping young people develop into responsible adults, and a high comfort level for working directly with children are essential skills for this position.
Job Duties include:
- Conduct weekly Scout Meetings and activities for youth in K-5 at assigned Scoutreach Sites
- Ensure that youth being served are appropriately registered with Scouting America
- Maintain weekly records including attendance, advancement, and membership applications
- Complete BSA Youth Protection Training and any required partnership agency training
- Willingness to learn the Scouting Program, then develop and deliver fun and exciting weekly 1-hour program sessions based on that program
- Willing and able to be properly uniformed while delivering program to youth
- Availability during After-School Hours, 3:30-6:30 pm, September through May
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Must be 18+
- Maintain reliable transportation that enables Aide to be at assigned sites
- Organized and self-motivated
- Able to create weekly lesson plans based on a set theme
- Scouting experience is a plus, but not required
