Department Head, Social Work

The University of Northern Iowa seeks applications for the position of Department Head of Social Work, starting in August 2025. Responsibilities include managing departmental budget, class schedules, and faculty evaluations; supervises departmental staff; provides leadership and vision; oversees general operations of the department; and serves as BSW Director. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The Department of Social Work offers well-regarded on-campus BSW and Advanced MSW programs, as well as distance MSW programs. Our department boasts a dynamic faculty and numerous opportunities for innovation.
 
Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and a doctorate in social work or a related field required. Record of teaching and scholarly achievements suitable for a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor; academic administrative or supervisory experience; familiarity with student recruitment and retention; and knowledge of CSWE accreditation also required.
